If it's "just a game"... Who cares about your item? It's just a game, it's not like you've lost anything. The item doesn't exist.

That's fantacoding. It's impossible to add such a command line now if there isn't already, they needed to implement it while programming the basic code. Even the mentioned example of The Frog makes little sense, since the item wasn't created on the fly by a developer with a magic command in game, it was likely designed, coded and put into the game like any other item, just spawned on occasion in one single istance for Gayle alone. Seems like easy, but it probably isn't. That was justified by the special event, yet it doesn't mean they could do it any time they liked, nor that is feasible.

Whatever. Due to the nature of items in Guild Wars, even two gold items with the same stats and skins are not identical for the game engine: they're randomly generated as they drop and unique, even if looking and playing the same.

All they could do is to restore stuff like bags, green items, stackable/quest items and minipets.

But I didn't have 100k, so the game put into the trade window the max ammount of money I had - 100g. I pressed "submit trade", but realized immediatly that I made a mistake and changed offer (it took me around 15 seconds to figure out what's wrong though). The scam 100k-100g works, because often pple don't notice. It might have happened, though ofc not very likely, that nor me nor the person i was trading with noticed the mistake before the trade was made. After that, he would have reported me, probably without bothering to tell me that at all. Do i deserve a perma ban, losing 3 years of play, 11 chars, etc because of such an accident? There is simply no way for me to prove I didn't mean to do that - nor there is a way to be 100% sure that somebody who did it, did it with purpose (to avoid being contacted by the unhappy seller, one could just log out, set himself to offline or pretend to afk in a populated place like spamadan - the seller will eventually stop trying to contact you and you could spend/move the money to avoid being able later to give it back).

Now this was just an example. A lot of mistakes can happen.
Ppl usually dont report immediatly, but make questions..what happened? You scammed me? or say "Give my money back scammer","this is not the right items"..or simply they offend hard...
So, like that was happens to you, you have the time to speak and resolve the thing if not correct...but if you do this then you put that person in ignore list ITS a SCAM, not a error..."errare humanum est" but when you leave the game,go offline or simply put ppl into ignore list sorry butis not a error, and i want justice...not a simply 2/3/4 week ban.
And you have time to see your trade log if all is ok..check your trade log every trade save your game..it took just 10 seconds to check and you immediatly can see : xxx traded you xxe , you traded xxx 100g...100g?its an error, so you can contact him/her to resolve the problem before report you.
Im not a perfect guy, i made a lots of mistake every day..and for this reason i check all that is do because i know that i can do something wrong...infact i never get banned in a game, and i made big mistakes too...

Dont make a game if you are incompetent, and if you cant offer a support...or simply dont offer support if you cant.

Ok tell me then how possible other game can..and GW no?
Dont speak about codes, i know how work...every item have a unique ID, btw you can reproduce and items..same stats, same rarity/skin and all rest without problem using a different ID..If you dont think is possible donwload item editor for D2 or for Sacred/Sacred underworld...and this is the same system used by other games to restore items scammed.

BTW, I work for ANET too and until it comes straight from ANET/GW website, it AINT real.

And I tell everyone I work for ANET for the last 4 years too and they believe me. I also tell my neighbor, I'm a CIA spy and they believe me too. I tell my co-worker that I've known for 10years that I'm only human and they believe me too.

So, unless you work for ANET w/ your buddy, it AINT real, like the word AINT.

They surely featured the possibility to create games by inputing commands since the start, or some way to create objects anyway. Guild Wars could get such a feature (if it's not present yet) with some extensive reprogramming. Which is something that's just NOT going to happen.

I wasn't referring to item identifiers, I was talking about game code (programmed code). Anyway, Diablo II items are different: two identical items have the very same final ID, and you can just build them up with an editor by reproducing this item ID.

I believe that's not the case with GW items: any single item has most likely its own (unique) final ID. Think of it: any item has a specific and random, merchant value, which makes me think two appearently identical items won't just match internally. For the game, they're two different items that look the same.

So, whoever is put in charge to restore items MUST know what item you're missing and build another one from scratch. But gold drops are generated randomly, so there's probably no function in the code to "spawn" an item at will. Even if they have some magic trick to spawn items, they probably could just rebuild items with a fixed ID (like, say, a tormented item, or green weapons), but probably not a drop.

Actually, it happened to me to go offline or afk right after the trade (for example maybe I was looking for that item for a pair of hours already and now i want to have a break). Ofc it's very unlikely to happen right after an accidental scam, but can the possibility be ignored?
Also, if i am at fault for not checking the trade log, what about the other person? Specially as it's his/her money on stake. I find it weird that I would have to check, doublecheck and triplecheck what I am placing in trade while the other person can not bother with it at all, as in case they can always contact anet, resulting in them getting everything back and me getting banned.
And what about dcs and computer failures? Those can be faked easily but can also happen at the most inapropriate time (I got a monitor failure once, exactly few seconds after a runner zoned to the outpost he was bringing me to - I had to contact another person who was on that run and whos name I remembered to get the runner's IGN and give him his money). Those take a bit to be able to log into gw again and,if you are either unable to reconnect or were in the outpost, your N list won't have pple with whom you tarded/who were in your party anymore.

I was speaking of ID codes in other words "name of item" for pc(that is what you said =P)..usually is wrote in hexadecimal language (or decimal sometimes) like 00165847 etc..Btw is not this the point..An editor can create an items by get the visual apparence + stats..who care about codes?program give a code for everything and codes are only for machine.
I dont think that GW is different...you think that every Emerald Blade in game have total different codes?i dont think...if you check the codes of 2 identical swords maybe 2/3 numbers change, in base of mod too but the base matrix is the same.
For example
Emerald Blade 1:120120
Emerald Blade 2:120133
New drop from kathandrax : Emerald Blade 3:120145, maybe the 120*** say to machine: that sword is Emerald Blade.Maybe machine add other numbers to identify Mods/inscription but they have all same base matrix.
The fact is still what i say at begin..they dont want do it.

Unless you work for NCsoft, don't make any claims as to how their system works. I've heard it said from numerous Riverside threads that they can't just type in a code and spawn items. That's why they don't restore things very often. This isn't WoW.

Anyway, this isn't a discussion thread, this is Q&A. I'm fairly certain the original question was answered. Bottom line, if you were hacked, there is a 99.99% chance are not going to restore your items.
